Chimpanzee trekking in Nyungwe.
Uwinka Visitor Center, just a short walking distance from the Guesthouse is one of the starting points for chimpanzee trekking in Rwanda. Here, visitors can simply walk to the visitor Center for registration and briefing before venturing into the jungles to search for our closest relatives in the animal Kingdom. Here, chimp treks begin at 5:00 am and travelers to able to watch these Great Apes as they wake up and go about with their daily activities of foraging, playing, and grooming each other.
Hiking/guided forest walks.
Uwinka Visitor Center is the starting point for several hiking trails that go through Nyungwe Forest National Park offering sights of bird species, forest canopies, the Park’s highest peak, outstanding tree species, and many others. Some of the hiking trails you can try out while staying at Uwinka Guesthouse include Irebero, Umugote, Igishigishigi, Imbaraga, Rukuzi, Umuyove, Buhoro, the Congo Nile Divide, and Bigugu hiking trails.
