The Umoyove trail takes visitors through an off-beaten track to encounter some of the precious attractions found within the mountainous rainforest of Nyungwe Forest National Park. Walking with the waterfall trail brings the feeling of the Tarzan movie-the primates, verdant vegetation, streams and rivers flowing through the forest floor and the birds. Mahogany trail offers tourists with opportunities of undertaking the interesting photography experience, sightseeing and different species including butterflies, trees and among others.
The tail stretches approximately 3 kilometers to compete, and this offers you a breathtaking experience as you walk along the waterfalls and spot the numerous bird species and primates.
Nyungwe Forest National Park has steep landscape and extensive network of hiking trails making it a perfect destination for hikers. The mahogany trail is different in length, ease of hiking and features; Lucky enough you’re able to view different types of monkeys all on the hike that you may not see any, or to see a single family. So, be sure to keep your eyes open, listen for branches cracking in the distance and bring a pair of binoculars or a camera with a 50x zoom to get those who are in the distance.
The Umoyove trail is a pretty easy hike overall, but during a rainy season, the trail tends to be wet underfoot and there are frequent showers. That said, plenty of visitors do nature walk during this season and face a tough experience. However, birdwatchers are probably the best months to do nature walk in Nyungwe Forest, partly because resident birds are boosted by a large number of Palaearctic migrants, but also because it is the main breeding season, and several species are at their most colorful and conspicuous.
Guests that have visited Nyungwe forest have also traversed Uganda’s Kibale Forests that shares the same biodiversity with the highest population of Chimpanzees in Africa. Uganda is one of the world’s best destination where visitors can both track gorillas in Bwindi and also meet the Chimpanzees.
