Owl-Faced Monkey in Nyungwe Forest National Park
Meet the Owl-faced monkey, a very secretive terrestrial monkey living in small groups with a single male. They are very silent except for an occasional loud boom emitted by the male. A few groups are known to exist in the bamboo zone, at the southern end of Nyungwwe if you are lucky on one of your guided nature trails or on your chimpanzee trekking tour in Rwanda, you could bump into one.

Nyungwe Forest National Park in Rwanda is one of the oldest rain forests in Africa. The famous Chimpanzee Park in Rwanda is abundantly blessed with rich biodiversity that one cannot find elsewhere in both Rwanda and the East African region.
The Park is believed to be the heart of Rwanda’s wildlife, including a small population of unique chimpanzees as well as 12 other species of primate, including the L’Hoest’s monkey endemic to the Albertine Rift and spectacularly beautiful bird species.
