How to get to Imuhira Ecotourism Campsite
If you are driving from Karongi (or are already in Nyamasheke district), the best way to get to Imuhira Ecotourism Campsite is by stopping at the Canter close to the ADEPR Church and turning south right, followed by driving or walking for about 4 kilometers towards Lake Kivu. For visitors driving from Nyungwe Forest National Park or Gisakura (that’s about 18 kilometers to the Imuhira Ecotourism Campsite), it is advisable to stop at Rugabano Center and then drive or walk 4 kilometers south towards Lake Kivu. A 4WD Vehicle is recommended during the rainy season because the feeder road to the Campsite becomes muddy and slippery hence becoming difficult to drive through. In these cases, most visitors opt to use boats to the Campsite and this takes about 10 minutes.
