Chimpanzee trekking in Nyungwe is usually done with a maximum of 8 people per tour, this popular adventure requires early advanced booking and all visitors going for a chimpanzee trekking requires to have secured a chimpanzee permit from Irembo the issuing authority here in Rwanda or book through a recommended rwanda Tour Operator and a member to Rwanda Tours and Travel Association (RTTA). As this experience is authentically wild, chimpanzee viewing cannot be guaranteed. You must be fifteen years of age or over to take part in this activity.
The cost of a permit that allows tourists to do chimpanzee trekking in Nyungwe is at US$ 90.00 per person for a single trek and only valid for the day of trekking. While in Nyungwe Forest visitors can also take part in Canopy walk experience. The only walk of its kind in East Africa, this breathtaking construction hangs 60 metres above the forest floor between giant trees and towers, revealing a stunning view of the flora and fauna, both below and above. An iconic experience, not to be missed! Visiting the Canopy is charged US$ 60.00 per person and one is required to secure a permit for this Canopy experience far in advance.
