It’s no secret that Volcanoes National Park is home to almost half the World’s surviving population of Mountain gorillas. It has over 12 habituated gorilla families where you will for sure be able to trek more than two gorilla families. In the South of Rwanda lies Nyungwe Forest National Park, home to habituated chimpanzees. The slopes of the Virunga Volcanoes, thick vegetation in Nyungwe, and savannah plains in Rwanda offer a rare treat of birding from January to December although best sightings are guaranteed in March through March, October through November. Just a short walk through the Forest is the beginning of unforgettable birding moments. Abundant views of forest and Albertine bird species make this Park a prime location for spotting Albertine Rift endemic species.
